🏆 2024: the Olympics in sight!
The 2024 Olympics are fast approaching for the city of Paris 🗼as they will take place from July 26 to August 11 and from August 28 to September 8 for the Paralympics.
On the occasion of this event, athletes (15000 representatives, 208 delegations) but also the public (16 million visitors!) are expected.
What are the impacts of the Olympics on Professional Mobility?
– First of all, there are the lengthening visa processing times; Faced with the massive arrival of athletes and all the members of the “Olympic family”, an Olympic consulate dedicated to the Olympics was set up at the beginning of January in order to process the 70,000 visa applications expected and to relieve the congestion of the already busy prefectures.
– In terms of accommodation, hotels have already reviewed their prices according to the yeld management technique (pricing strategy used in the hotel sector to understand, anticipate and therefore influence customer behavior, in order to achieve maximum revenue and profit). As for property rentals on platforms such as Airbnb, they are also experiencing a sharp increase following the enthusiasm of owners to rent out their property during the Olympic period. Accommodation prices will therefore “skyrocket” in a geographical location where housing is already in short supply.
– Finally, travel will be #anticiper according to the website launched last January: Olympic and Paralympic Games – 2024 Olympic Games: plan your trips! | Service-Public.fr
For public transport, Parisians and Ile-de-France residents are encouraged to work from home in order to relieve congestion on the lines and leave room for spectators. For travel, it is advisable to consult the website mentioned above in order to optimize your journeys according to the affluence.
On the main roads, a total of 185km of lanes around Paris will be reserved exclusively for the circulation of accredited vehicles. Then, there will be security perimeters classified as red (motorized access prohibited unless exempted) and blue (motorized access regulated: diversion of through traffic.
In a recent interview with AFP in early February, the prefect of Paris, Laurent Nunez, further announced possible exemptions for driving in Paris. The situation should therefore be monitored closely as it will surely evolve.
And long live the Olympics 🎖
